Dr. Akbarnia Receives the 2008 Walter P. Blount Service Award
Dr. Behrooz Akbarnia recently received the Walter P. Blount Service Award at the Scoliosis Research Society Annual meeting held Sept. 10-13, 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is one of the highest awards the Society offers. The SRS is considered the leading spine society in the world, providing spine research and education globally.
This award honors those who act generously out of their sense of service to larger social and professional goals. The SRS membership was asked to nominate those who volunteer their time to related organizations; who offer charity care or reduced fees for poorer patients; who put in time on committee work out of the sense of duty to their institution or professional society.
Dr. Akbarnia served as its president 2005-06. He remains on its Board of Directors for the next 2 years.
